Kominote Lakay (kominotelakay.ca) is operated by Philippe-Remy Enterprise Corp., based in Clarence-Rockland, Ontario, Canada. We are committed to protecting your personal information and being transparent about how we collect, use, and store it. This Privacy Policy applies to all visitors, registered users, business owners, and advertisers who interact with our platform.

Information you provide directly:

  • Name, email address, and password when you create an account
  • Business name, address, phone number, description, photos, and other listing details when you submit a listing
  • Payment information when you subscribe to a premium listing or advertising plan
  • Messages sent through our contact form
  • Reviews you submit for listed businesses

Information collected automatically:

  • IP address and browser information when you visit our site
  • Pages visited, links clicked, and time spent on the platform
  • Cookie data (see Section 6)

Information from third parties:

  • If you connect a social media account, we may receive basic profile information from that platform
  • Payment processors may share transaction confirmation details with us

SECTION 3 — HOW WE USE YOUR INFORMATION

We use your personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Publish and manage your business listing
  • Process payments for premium listings and advertising placements
  • Respond to your inquiries and support requests
  • Send transactional emails such as listing approval notifications, billing confirmations, and waitlist updates
  • Improve the platform and understand how our community uses it
  • Comply with our legal obligations under Canadian law

We do not use your personal information for automated decision-making or profiling.


SECTION 4 — HOW WE SHARE YOUR INFORMATION

We do not sell your personal information. We may share it in the following limited circumstances:

Service providers: We work with trusted third-party providers to operate the platform, including payment processors and hosting services. These providers are contractually required to protect your information and use it only for the services they provide to us.

Public listing information: When your listing is approved and published, the business information you submitted (name, address, description, photos, social links, etc.) becomes publicly visible on the platform. You are responsible for what you choose to include in your listing.

Legal requirements: We may disclose your information if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request from Canadian authorities.


SECTION 5 — PAYMENTS

Payment information including credit card details is processed by our third-party payment provider and is never stored directly on our servers. We retain only the information necessary to manage your subscription, such as your billing plan and renewal date. Our payment processing complies with applicable Canadian financial regulations.


SECTION 6 — COOKIES

We use cookies to keep you logged in, remember your preferences, and understand how visitors use our platform. You can control cookies through your browser settings. Disabling cookies may affect certain features of the platform such as staying logged in to your account.

We do not use cookies to serve third-party advertising.


SECTION 7 — DATA RETENTION

We retain your personal information for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide our services. If you delete your account, we will remove your personal information within a reasonable time, except where we are required to retain it for legal or financial purposes.

Business listing information that has been publicly visible may remain indexed by search engines even after removal from our platform.


SECTION 8 — YOUR RIGHTS

Under PIPEDA and applicable Canadian privacy law, you have the right to:

  • Access the personal information we hold about you
  • Request corrections to inaccurate or incomplete information
  • Withdraw your consent to certain uses of your information
  • Request deletion of your personal information, subject to legal obligations
  • File a complaint with the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada if you believe your rights have been violated

SECTION 9 — DATA SECURITY

We take reasonable technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information from unauthorized access, loss, or disclosure. This includes encrypted data transmission, secure hosting, and access controls. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.


SECTION 10 — CHILDREN’S PRIVACY

Kominote Lakay is not intended for use by anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from minors. If you believe a minor has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will delete it promptly.


SECTION 11 — CHANGES TO THIS POLICY

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. When we do, we will update the effective date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify registered users by email. Continued use of the platform after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the revised policy.
