Tout a commenc\u00e9 lors d'une r\u00e9union.<\/p>\n

Nous \u00e9tions dans une pi\u00e8ce remplie d\u2019Ha\u00eftiens. Des gens qui se connaissaient depuis des ann\u00e9es, d\u2019autres qui se rencontraient pour la premi\u00e8re fois, tous li\u00e9s par un m\u00eame fil. Et au milieu de tout cela, nous avons commenc\u00e9 \u00e0 parler d\u2019un service que nous recherchions. Quelqu\u2019un \u00e0 proximit\u00e9 s\u2019est tu un instant, puis a dit : \u00ab Je peux le faire. \u00bb<\/p>\n

Nous cherchions depuis longtemps. La r\u00e9ponse avait \u00e9t\u00e9 l\u00e0 tout ce temps.<\/p>\n

Ce moment nous est rest\u00e9 en m\u00e9moire. Car ce n\u2019\u00e9tait pas la premi\u00e8re fois. Ce n\u2019\u00e9tait m\u00eame pas la dixi\u00e8me. Combien de fois avions-nous eu besoin de quelque chose et cherch\u00e9 au mauvais endroit, sans savoir que quelqu\u2019un dans notre propre cercle, quelqu\u2019un qui partageait notre langue, notre culture, notre histoire, offrait d\u00e9j\u00e0 exactement cela ? Combien de chefs d\u2019entreprise ha\u00eftiens construisaient quelque chose de concret, quelque chose de bien, et n\u2019\u00e9taient tout simplement pas trouv\u00e9s ?<\/p>\n

Kominote Lakay est n\u00e9 de cette question.<\/p>\n

Nous sommes Marie et Eddy, deux Ha\u00eftiens de la diaspora qui ont d\u00e9cid\u00e9 que notre communaut\u00e9 m\u00e9ritait un endroit o\u00f9 \u00eatre vue. Pas seulement des entreprises, mais aussi des ressources, des lieux de rassemblement, des \u00e9glises, des organisations, tout ce qui fait qu\u2019une communaut\u00e9 se sent compl\u00e8te. Nous avons construit la premi\u00e8re version. Mais cela n\u2019a jamais \u00e9t\u00e9 uniquement le n\u00f4tre.<\/p>\n

La r\u00e9action que nous avons constat\u00e9e depuis nos d\u00e9buts nous confirme ce que nous soup\u00e7onnions d\u00e9j\u00e0. La communaut\u00e9 \u00e9tait pr\u00eate. Les gens voulaient cela. Ils avaient juste besoin d\u2019un endroit o\u00f9 aller.<\/p>\n

Notre mission<\/h3>\n

Nous avons cr\u00e9\u00e9 Kominote Lakay parce que l'identit\u00e9 ne dispara\u00eet pas lorsque l'on franchit une fronti\u00e8re. Elle voyage avec vous. Elle vit dans la cuisine que vous pr\u00e9parez, dans la langue que vous parlez chez vous, dans la fiert\u00e9 que vous ressentez quand on vous demande d'o\u00f9 vous venez. Mais pour trop d'entre nous, membres de la diaspora, le lien avec notre communaut\u00e9 et avec Ha\u00efti lui-m\u00eame peut s'estomper discr\u00e8tement avec le temps. C'est l'effet de la distance.<\/p>\n

Kominote Lakay est notre r\u00e9ponse \u00e0 cette distance.<\/p>\n

Notre mission est de reconnecter la diaspora ha\u00eftienne \u00e0 ses racines, \u00e0 son identit\u00e9 et \u00e0 ses membres. Non seulement en facilitant la recherche d\u2019une entreprise d\u00e9tenue par des Ha\u00eftiens, mais aussi en vous aidant \u00e0 trouver tout ce qui fait qu\u2019une communaut\u00e9 vous donne le sentiment d\u2019\u00eatre chez vous. Le restaurant o\u00f9 tout le monde parle cr\u00e9ole. L\u2019\u00e9glise qui c\u00e9l\u00e8bre votre foi telle que vous l\u2019avez connue en grandissant. Le centre communautaire o\u00f9 vos enfants peuvent grandir fiers de qui ils sont. Les organisations qui se battent pour nous en silence, sans applaudissements.<\/p>\n

Lorsque vous soutenez une entreprise sur Kominote Lakay, cela fait bouger les choses. L\u2019argent reste entre les mains des Ha\u00eftiens. Un entrepreneur se sent reconnu. Un enfant grandit en voyant ses parents construire quelque chose de concret. Et une partie des revenus de cette plateforme, provenant de la publicit\u00e9 et des annonces premium, est directement revers\u00e9e \u00e0 Ha\u00efti. \u00c0 des projets communautaires. \u00c0 l\u2019\u00e9ducation. Aux organisations sur le terrain qui accomplissent un travail qui ne fait jamais la une des journaux, mais qui change des vies chaque jour.<\/p>\n

Nous ne sommes pas seulement un annuaire. Nous sommes la preuve que la diaspora est organis\u00e9e, que nous soutenons les n\u00f4tres et que nous n\u2019avons pas oubli\u00e9 d\u2019o\u00f9 nous venons.<\/p>\n

\u00c0 cette infirmi\u00e8re ha\u00eftienne qui s'est install\u00e9e \u00e0 Montr\u00e9al il y a trois ans et qui n'a toujours pas trouv\u00e9 de m\u00e9decin avec qui elle puisse parler cr\u00e9ole. \u00c0 cet entrepreneur de Miami qui a b\u00e2ti son entreprise \u00e0 partir de rien et dont les voisins ignorent m\u00eame l'existence. \u00c0 cette m\u00e8re d'Ottawa qui cherche un salon de coiffure ha\u00eftien o\u00f9 sa fille puisse se reconna\u00eetre. \u00c0 ce grand-p\u00e8re de Paris qui souhaite envoyer de l'argent \u00e0 une organisation de confiance dans son pays d'origine.<\/p>\n

Ceci s\u2019adresse \u00e0 l\u2019enfant de la deuxi\u00e8me g\u00e9n\u00e9ration qui a grandi entre deux mondes et qui cherche encore comment concilier les deux. \u00c0 la personne qui se demande en silence o\u00f9 notre communaut\u00e9 se rassemble dans cette ville. \u00c0 tous ceux qui ont d\u00e9j\u00e0 ressenti cette solitude particuli\u00e8re d\u2019\u00eatre entour\u00e9s de gens sans pour autant trouver leur place.<\/p>\n

People who had known each other for years, some meeting for the first time, all connected by the same thread. And somewhere in the middle of it all, we started talking about a service we had been searching for. Someone nearby went quiet for a moment, then said: I do that.<\/p> <p>We had been looking. The answer had been right there the whole time.<\/p> <p>That moment stayed with us. Because it was not the first time. It was not even the tenth. How many times had we needed something and gone looking in the wrong places, not knowing that someone in our own circle, someone who shared our language, our culture, our story, was already offering exactly that? How many Haitian business owners were building something real, something good, and simply not being found?<\/p> <p>Kominote Lakay was born from that question.<\/p> <p>We are Marie and Eddy, two Haitians in the diaspora who decided that our community deserved a place to be seen. Not just businesses, but resources, gathering places, churches, organizations, everything that makes a community feel whole. We built the first version. But this was never just ours.<\/p> <p>The response we have seen since we started tells us what we already suspected. The community was ready. People wanted this. They just needed somewhere to go.<\/p> <p>We are the first spark. It travels with you. It lives in the food you cook, the language you speak at home, the pride you feel when someone asks where you are from. But for too many of us in the diaspora, the connection to our community and to Haiti itself can fade quietly over time. Distance does that.<\/p> <p>Kominote Lakay is our answer to that distance.<\/p> <p>Our mission is to reconnect the Haitian diaspora with its roots, its identity, and each other. Not just by making it easier to find a Haitian-owned business, but by helping you find everything that makes a community feel like home. The restaurant where everyone speaks Creole. The church that celebrates your faith the way you grew up knowing it. The community centre where your children can grow up proud of who they are. The organizations fighting for us quietly, without applause.<\/p> <p>When you support a business on Kominote Lakay, something moves. Money stays in Haitian hands. An entrepreneur feels seen.
